Igor Nekraha
Painting
Igor Nekraha is a Ukrainian artist born in 1998 in Kharkiv. His distinctive style is defined by restrained compositions, expressive brushwork, and carefully balanced colour combinations. Stormy skies, open fields, and quiet shores become starting points for exploring emotional states.
His desire to become an artist began in early childhood. From 2013 to 2017, he studied at Kharkiv Art College, specialising in art and art education. He later continued his studies in industrial design at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts.
Travel and painting are closely intertwined in his practice. Inspired by the Ukrainian landscape, he approaches each view with curiosity, allowing both what he sees and the painting itself to guide the work as it unfolds. For Ihor, the value of a painting extends beyond its visual appeal. He hopes viewers will recognise something of their own experience in his work: a familiar mood, a memory, or the feeling of being in a particular place. His artistic language continues to evolve through the pleasure of painting, experimentation, and attentive observation.
Ihor Nekrakha has participated in exhibitions since 2013 and regularly takes part in plein air painting events in Ukraine and abroad. His paintings are held in private collections in many countries around the world.

Artist statement
My painting begins with Ukrainian nature and the places I discover while travelling. I am fascinated by how light and colour can transform an ordinary landscape, giving it a mood that stays with me. Painting is my way of exploring that feeling and sharing it with others.
I use simplified forms, expressive brushwork, and carefully balanced colours to convey the atmosphere of a place. As I work, I respond to what happens on the canvas: an unexpected brushstroke or a shift in tone can suggest a new direction. I seek balance while leaving room for the painting to develop freely.
